Cancellation & Refund Policy

We are a rain-or-shine operation! We will not reschedule or refund you because of overcast or rainy weather. Paddling in the rain is fun. Plus, you are going to get wet no matter what!

To receive a full refund, guests must provide us with a minimum 48-hour advance notice. Any cancellation within 48 hours is subject to a 40% late cancellation fee, but is otherwise refundable (equivalent to a 60% refund). This also applies to all bookings made within 48 hours of the event.

We have a 24-hour minimum notification policy for rescheduling. 

No-shows will not be refunded or rescheduled.

All rentals are subject to postponement or cancellation by The Forge Whalon Lake due to lightning or severe weather at any time up until your scheduled rental time. We reserve the right to determine whether or not we will reschedule reservations based on weather conditions. We offer complimentary rescheduling if we postpone your experience. We try our best to give our guests ample notice of reschedulings to prevent unnecessary commuting inconveniences. However, the erratic weather patterns of Chicago can force us to make more last-minute considerations.

All rentals are subject to postponement or cancellation due to low registration or staffing issues. This is an infrequent circumstance, and we will do our best to avoid these situations.

Cancellations due to low registration will be made at least 24 hours in advance, and notifications will be sent to the phone number and email address that we have on file for bookings. Staffing issues normally (but almost never) arise in cases of emergency for the guide(s) assigned, making it impossible for us to provide a standard advance notification window.

 

We are not responsible for guests who do not see cancellation notifications in time. We do our best to reach out via two forms of communication, with at least one in writing. We are not responsible for missed notifications due to wrong phone numbers or email addresses erroneously (or purposely) entered into our booking system by guests.
